Tram-e-d'arte - Florence by tram

The Social Sciences Library as a stage in a cultural itinerary along the tramway route

Tram-e-d'arte - Florence by tram

The Social Sciences Library has been included in the "Tram-e-d'arte - Florence by tram" project, curated by the Via Maggio Association in collaboration with GEST (Tramway Service Management).

The aim of the project is to recount the beauty of Florence outside the traditional tourist circuits in a new and sustainable way and envisages the realisation of artistic-historical-cultural itineraries along the T1 and T2 lines of the tramway, which branch off from the city centre towards the neighbourhoods to discover places - often little known - located near the stops.

Approximately 200 sites of interest are described, divided into five categories - Top Attraction, Museums and Churches, Parks and Sports, Entertainment and Culture, and Shops and Markets - including sacred or cultural buildings such as the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity and the Medici Villa in Careggi, but also centres of entertainment, such as the Theatre of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Manifattura Tabacchi, the Palace of Justice in Novoli, the Stibbert Museum, ancient churches, parks and masterpieces of street art, sports centres, universities and Natural Shopping Centres.

Each location is geolocalised and has its own web page complete with photos, description, stop and reference tram line. A descriptive card has also been dedicated to the Library at the stop of the T2 line 'San Donato - Università'.

In addition, as part of the project activities, on Saturday 27 May a group of Florentine citizens guided by an escort visited the Library.
