Recently published by Firenze University Press, this volume shows the outcomes of a project launched in 2018 by the University of Florence Library System. The research explores women's emancipation and their access to higher education, which was only allowed in Italy as of 1875 as a result of a new University Regulation that for the first time explicitly allowed women to attend courses. Several initiatives have resulted from this project: the exhibition of a selection of historical theses, preserved in Biomedical, Sciences and Humanities Libraries, at Humanities Library (8 March-30 April 2019), the cataloguing of these documents in the online catalogue, their digitisation and publication on the web.
