New Manuscripts Being Digitized

The University libraries continue the digitization process of ancient documents

Now available in the Impronte digitali platform new digitized versions of antique manuscripts from the antique and historical collections of the University Library Sistem. 

These specimens come from the Arcispedale di Santa Maria Nuova collection of the Biomedical Library and from the rich and diverse collection of the Humanities Library. The manuscripts contain literary, philosophical and scientific works, some of which known to the general public exclusively in their printed versions.

The manuscripts in the Sciences Library include three volumes belonging to the weighty Pier Antonio Micheli collection, owned by the Botany section. The three digitized specimens, with catalogues of plants from Micheli's dry garden and illustrations of mushrooms, are the first of an important project that will merge into a new digital collection: The manuscripts of Pier Antonio Micheli.

Manuscripts of Statutes of the Social Sciences Library (XVI-XIX centuries) is the new digital collection of the Social Sciences Library that includes manuscripts of municipal and guilds' statutes  from the antique collection of the Collegio degli Avvocati di Firenze, as well as copies of documents from medieval and modern age, made between the 16th and 19th centuries, some of which filled with notes in the margins by various hands.
