For the month of May, ‘Letture al centro’ is joining forces with the University’s initiative Paths to Peace. Lessons and Dialogues at the University of Florence and offers a series of resources dedicated to peace and related topics, such as non-violence, international relations and conflict mediation.
Among the selected resources, particular mention should be made of several volumes belonging to two key book collections in the field of peace education: FPACE, formed from the former library of the Forum for Peace and War Issues (a research, training and advanced dissemination institute founded in Florence in 1984 by scholars of various persuasions, belonging to the University of Florence and other Italian universities) and LABA, named after Alberto L’Abate (1931–2017), a sociologist and activist committed to the pursuit of peace and non-violence.
The reading suggestions will be available from 6 to 27 May on the ground floor opposite the circulation desk and in the dedicated area on the first floor during the Library’s usual opening hours: Mon–Fri 8.30am–11.30pm, Sat 8.30am–7.00pm.
