On Monday, 6 October, at 11 a.m., the paintings in La Tinaia will be the focus of a guided tour for a group of citizens, as part of the “Cultural Walks” initiative organised by the CRAL of the Municipality of Florence.
The tour, led by a tour guide, will offer the opportunity to admire 21 large paintings by artists from the La Tinaia studio, displayed on the walls of the Social Sciences Library. Most of these are sheets that have become unusable, worn or torn, which the artists have used as a medium for expression.
La Tinaia, a rehabilitation centre founded in 1975 within the San Salvi psychiatric hospital in Florence, is one of the few examples of a therapeutic community where art is practised freely and daily by a group of patients.
