The initiatives are organized within the cycle of meetings. The Archistories of the Library: presentation of books, experiences, projects... The Archistories are born as a tie and recognition to Luca De Silva's teaching and activity and want to represent its ideal continuation.

The research presented describes the latest significant culmination of a long investigation journey that began some twenty-five years ago, when a research unit of the Faculty's then Department of Architectural History began to explore the issues of Orientalism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the relationship between Western, particularly Italian, art, architecture and garden art with coeval Turkish culture and its architects.

The research carried out by the faculty members over the years has had remarkable results, such as the establishment of significant international scientific collaborations that are still active today, resulting in a broadening of horizons to the entire Mediterranean architectural tradition. The Faculty's research activities have thus contributed to the establishment of a substantial library collection on Turkey and, in this case, on Turkish Modern, first at the Department, now merged into the Library of Architecture, acquiring new publications and historical monographs on the modern market, and also fostering the donation of archives of European architects active in Turkey. That first relevant core collection continues to expand steadily. Even today, our Library carefully and meticulously documents Italian and international scholarly production, supporting the scholarly work of our researchers, as evidenced by the works of the renowned Turkish architects Sedad Eldem and Turgut Cansever.

The exhibition displays selected books and documents from the Library's collection, including the winning design of the Ankara International Competition preserved in the archival collection of architect László Kovács owned by the Library.
