The initiative is organized as part of the cycle of meetings The Archistorie of the Library: presentation of books, experiences, projects... The Archistorie were born as a link and a recognition to Luca De Silva's teaching and activity and they want to represent its ideal continuation.
For the 85th anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Florence, the Department of Architecture (DIDA) has organized at the headquarters of Santa Teresa the exhibition Facciamo Scuola. On Friday, March 11, when the DIDA initiative comes to a close, the bibliographic exhibition will open at Palazzo San Clemente Facciamo scuola. School founding. The Florentine radical architects in the collection of the Architecture Library
At the end of the sixties Remo Buti, Gianni Pettena and many of the members of the groups Archizoom, Superstudio, UFO, Ziggurat, 9999 were, or had been, students of architecture at the University of Florence; together they had animated the life of the Faculty in the spaces of Piazza Brunelleschi, of via Ricasoli and of Palazzo San Clemente, which also housed the library. The exhibition, curated by the Architecture Library, documents the roots and close ties between the Faculty and the Florentine radical avant-garde. The display in the Archispazio showcases is a small, but representative, selection of documents that mark some of the highlights of this journey.
And if, on the one hand, the catalogues of the exhibitions or the covers of the most famous Italian magazines testify to the international resonance that the radical Florentine architects had, on the other hand, the graduation theses take us back to the common educational matrix of the university years.
