If you cannot find a document in our libraries, you can borrow it (or request a copy) from other national or international libraries. We have activated many agreements to make this service free of charge. Learn here how to do it


National Central Library of Florence (BNCF)

It enables searches in the BNCF database, which includes seven other libraries in addition to the National Central Library of Florence: Library of the State Archives, Library of the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory, Library of the Filippo Turati Foundation for Historical Studies, Attilio Mori Library of the Military Geographical Institute, Marucelliana Library, Medicea Laurenziana Library, Riccardiana Library. The Catalogue has been online since 1985, and the retrieval of the older records has not yet been completed.


SBN Index

Catalogue of the National Library Service-(SBN) from which it is possible to conduct a simple or advanced bibliographic search on the catalogues of more than 2900 Italian libraries belonging to universities, local authorities, and public and private institutions operating in different subject areas.


ACNP: Italian Periodicals Catalogue

Contains bibliographic descriptions of periodicals owned by more than 2,500 libraries located throughout the country and covers all subject areas. Users can view consistency and location of the searched periodical.



Portal to the collections of the Tuscan library networks (13 total networks, managed by 5 different softwares) and the Cobire network (documentary network of the Region of Tuscany, its agencies, and institutes). It allows browsing by libraries and offers 3 views: Topics (discover the latest trivia), Catalogue (search for a book or resource), Explore (topics, books, and resources published in Tuscany via geolocation).


SDIAF: Integrated documentary system of the Florentine area

It allows querying the holdings of the libraries of the Integrated Documentary System of the Florentine Area (Oblate Library, neighborhood libraries, and other institutions/entities).


European University Institute

It allows users to query the print and online holdings of the European University Institute (EUI) Library, which specializes in social sciences, economics and history.



It is the world's largest catalogue, with millions of records from more than 70,000 libraries participating in OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), the leading international organization for curating library services. 


Library of Congress

The U.S. Library of Congress, also known as LOC or LoC, is de facto the national library of the United States. With more than 128 million documents it holds, it is the most extensive library in the world.


British Library

The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and one of the most important research libraries in the world (over 150 million documents with an annual increase of about 13 million).
