In most of the University libraries, it is possible to independently scan documents (journal articles, parts of books, lecture notes, etc.) using the BiblioScan service, activated in collaboration with the Area for Innovation and Management of Information and Computer Systems.
The system uses PaperCut, a multi-platform software distributed in agreement with the Region of Tuscany.
It is free and self-service and its functioning is quick and easy: once you have accessed the scanner by entering an identification code recovered from your personal area PaperCut or with student card thanks to the RFID reader integrated in the devices - mode at the time reserved for students Unifi - you can send and save in a USB stick or on your Google Drive Unifi the scanned documents files in PDF format or in graphic format (jpg/tiff, option available only on pen drive).
It is also eco-sustainable, in line with the University’s strategic objectives: without the use of paper and toner you can contribute to safeguarding the environment.
The service can be used by all institutional users and authorized external users:
The first access to the service differs depending on the type of user:
Master's students, CDS students and, in general, anyone with an @edu.unifi.it account can access the scanners in two ways:
The teaching and technical-administrative staff, both fixed-term and permanent, including research fellows and scholarship holders, doctoral students and postgraduate students, and all those who, with respect to the categories already mentioned, in implementation of the decisions of the Governing Bodies, have a University email address unifi.it, can access the scanners:
Authorised external users can access the scanners after registering:
NB: staff and students can choose the destination of their scans, while authorised external users can only send them to a USB stick.
