Firenze University Press is the Digital press of Firenze University and intends to host an international discussion among scholars, scholarly societies, university administrators, librarians and publishers that have identified the challenges in scholarly communication and the opportunities for change, many of which are suggested by digital and network technologies.

The conference will analyze the following themes :
a. Escalating costs of traditional scholarly communication
b. Economic and organizational barriers to entry in digital publishing or the creation of innovative alternatives;
c. Libraries and scholarly communication;
d. Efficient dissemination among peers, with opportunities for review and commentary;
e. Protection of intellectual property and its enduring availability for the future.

The International Conference on Scholarly Communication and Academic Presses is a Pre-conference Event of 2001 Fiesole Retreat on 23-24 March 2001. Early birds of both Conferences can join us in the visit to Corridoio Vasariano at Ponte Vecchio on 21st March in the afternoon.
