Statistics Branch Library

Presentation

Established in 1952 as a book repository for the School of Statistics of the Faculty of Economics, this collection has grown to become, in 1971, the Statistics Branch Library.

In 1994 it was moved to Viale Morgagni, adjacent to the Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications "Giuseppe Parenti" (DISIA).

As part of the restructuring of the University Library System (SBA), the Library is no longer a self standing unit but it is now a branch of the Social Sciences Library

The reading room has 32 seats and 3 computer desks.

Collections

The collection focuses on statistics and mathematics and official statistical data (Istat, Eurostat, ONU, OCDE). The library holds the complete collection of the Italian National Statistics Institute (ISTAT), from its foundation in 1926 to the present day.

ISTAT publications include:

  • census of population, agriculture and industry from the end of 1800s to the present;
  • yearbooks;
  • monographs;
  • statistical annals;
  • e-journals and books.
Most of the documents (about 15,000 volumes) are on open shelves.

Reading and loans

Only eading and loan services are available. For all other services please refer to the Social Sciences Library.

Distribution of all materials held in the bookstacks ends 15 minutes before closing time.
